“Woodfish” is part of a larger project called "Soulsearching”.
“Woodfish” is a work in progress, a reflexion on the passage and the traces of time, silence and chance.
“... For over 15 years during summer I carved fishes in driftwoods that the sea throws at the coves of the north coast of the Menorca island.” -
The first thing is the delicious and meticulous search of raw materials. That’s those woods that may contain a fish.
Then, carefully, with a “cutter” as the only tool, the fish appear as thoughts disappear. Submerged at depth, time, calm and successive coincidences do the rest.
"At last, once scanned, the fragile wood carvings became images-metaphors for wonderful life exists beneath the (own) surface: and the mystery of the (own) abyssal depth".
