Maurizia always carried a booklet dangling from her neck with newspaper cuts, quotations, appointments, notes... secrets that were only hers. I was a silent witness, collecting and taking notes for her in order to pay back the favour she did me when she allowed me to embody her soul... Mauricia, my first creation as a solo dancer.
Here are the hedgehogs, the puppet made of string that lived in my pocket for so many years, pronouncing its opinion about everything, the yellow pages with newspaper cuts that above all had to be saved, shoes, invented memories, words, words ripped out of their bed in the middle of the night and words that can open sealed doors by being pronounced in a quiet voice, images taken from the life of others in order to understand my own. All this is here -
It is amazing how photography makes time stand still; how the time we are made of finds in photography no-time.
And Carlos is looking on from the edge, the exact place where it is possible to feel the sensation without falling into the abysmal well, the exact place where he can witness in order to be able afterwards to unthread the thread of what has happened. The meaning of this book is so absolutely subjective that it does not belong to anybody: it springs forth from the space everybody shares where everything happens simultaneously.
